Simples, se o filme estiver em 1,78:1 (16:9) ou 1,85:1 (16,65:9) dá pra ver em qualquer tv widescreen numa boa. Thumbleft

O problema é quando o dvd vem em formato de vídeo de 2,35:1 (cinemascope ou superwide ou 21:9). Já o formato IMAX é 1,56:1 (14:9). Nerd

Filmes como Star Wars são em formato 2,35:1 (21:9), mas o TransFormers: Revenge of the Fallen está em 2,40:1 (21,6:9).

Iron Man Director/Actor Jon Favreau Talks Star Wars: Clone Wars
Reported by Jay Cochran - 06:41 PM 2010.01.28

Voicing the leader of the Mandalorian warriors in the upcoming episode of Star Wars: Clone Wars titled "The Mandalor Plot" is actor/director Jon Favreau – a long-time Star Wars fan. His involvement in The Clone Wars came as an indirect result of post-production for the first Iron Man film; he was working with Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound when his path crossed with Filoni’s at Lucasfilm’s Skywalker Ranch.

I had mentioned that I would love to do a voice, and that I’d done voices before – and the idea for me to play a Mandalorian came up. I wasn’t holding out for a cool character, but I think the Mandalorians are probably the ones that the die-hards are going to be the most curious about,” says Favreau. “I grew up a fan of Star Wars. It was the first time I had ever experienced that really iconic, mythic archetypal storytelling. What’s fun about Star Wars is that it still has as much relevance and impact now as it did then. It seems to be a set of characters and a world that is timeless, and every generation seems to embrace. So it’s fun to be able to share with my family and my kids the excitement that I had when I was young.

Lucas Film has also released to us a second clip from the episode and images which you can check out below.

Nearly wiped out by the Jedi Knights in a long-ago war, deadly Mandalorian warriors emerge from the shadows to exact cold revenge upon their peace-seeking rivals. Cloaked in mystery and hardened by memories of their bitter defeat, they are fueled by a collective desire to reclaim the glory of Mandalore – no matter the cost. Pitting skill and determination against the power of the Force, “The Mandalore Plot,” launches an epic, three-part clash that could turn the tide of the war itself. It’s an all-new episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, January 29 on Cartoon Network.

Sent to look into troubling rumors surrounding Duchess Satine of Mandalore, Obi-Wan Kenobi discovers the truth behind the whispers of a mysterious conspiracy. But his investigation uncovers more than he’d originally anticipated, pulling back the shadowy shroud from a long-rumored splinter group and bringing to light a deadly threat to the Republic.

[color=black]Designing Mandalorians for The Clone Wars
January 29, 2010

By Pete Vilmur

The helmet and armor worn by Boba and Jango Fett have long held a fascination for fans of the Star Wars saga, not only for the costume's cool mercenary aesthetic but for the persistent mystery surrounding it. Early on, Star Wars lore established the Fett armor as originating with the Mandalorians, an enigmatic culture that will be explored up close in Friday's episode of The Clone Wars, "The Mandalore Plot."

The Mando warrior look, which was devised by lead designer Kilian Plunkett for The Clone Wars, was of course informed by the Fett armor of the movie saga, but also from a Fett appearance made prior to Boba's 1980 debut in The Empire Strikes Back -- yup, the Boba Fett of 1978's "Star Wars Holiday Special" gets a nod in "The Mandalore Plot," thanks to the costume's translation into The Clone Wars universe.

We asked Plunkett a few questions about the Mandalorian look for Clone Wars, and how the costume both varies and compares to the Fett costumes we've come to know so well.

The original Boba Fett design used in the Holiday Special at left, and the new Clone Wars Mandalorian armor at right

I understand the Mandalorian designs for The Clone Wars were based on the original Fett design used in the "Star Wars Holiday Special." Can you elaborate?

Actually, the main source for the The Clone Wars Mandalorian armor design was the Jango Fett costume. It's the armor from closest in the timeline and the "clean, industrial" look fit the script better than battle-scarred, heavily-customized classic trilogy Boba Fett armor. The first idea was to come up with a slightly more ornate/ceremonial/swoopy look than the familiar Fett outfit, but after a few attempts at re-working the helmet it became apparent that the McQuarrie/Johnston costume couldn't be improved upon and that the helmet in particular was iconic.

The first Filoni-approved version was a very close match to the Episode II Jango. It got approved during design rounds one morning but I wondered if the differences between our Mando helmet and our Phase 1 clone helmet were a little too pronounced. So at lunch the same day I pitched Dave the idea of drawing from the Nelvana ["Holiday Special"] Fett design as a way to introduce a "retro" influence and to tie it in better with the Clone Wars Rex/Clone Phase 1 design. The Nelvana T-visor is very similar to the "face" on a Clone Wars clone, so it seemed like a good fit.

The insignias on the helmet, shoulder, and serape appear new -- did you pull these from existing source material or were they devised specifically for The Clone Wars?

Not initally, no. In the very earliest drafts of the script(s), Death Watch wasn't mentioned by name and the various insignia were worked up from scratch. Happily, the "trident" on the Vizsla helmet forehead looks a lot like a streamlined version of the established Death Watch symbol. Originally the Pre Vizsla cape sported the same skull as the one on the left Boba Fett shoulder, but it was replaced by the Death Watch symbol as that aspect of the story was finalized. The rank insignia are still all new, the hexagonal shape seen in this insignia informs a lot of Mandalorian designs, both warrior and otherwise (the Mandalorian citizenry and Prime Minister Almec were designed by Davide Le Merrer).

When it came to the Mando design, did you guys have to re-examine the Jango and Boba costumes to determine just what was original to Mando warriors and what would have been added or customized by the Fetts?

Any excuse to visit the archives! The tooling on Jango gear is fantastic -- that outfit's genuinely heavy and very robust. Its metallic sections seem to be real metal, too. We decided early on that Jango's guns are custom and that the new, more severe geometric gun fit better with the Mandalorian aesthetic as seen in The Clone Wars. The biggest visible difference between the generic Mando armor and the Fetts would be the rangefinder. There was some debate over whether making the rangefinder "standard issue" would make the helmet look too much like Rex. The fact that he modified his helmet makes Jango Fett more unique, anyway.

The way I see it, if you had only one reference point for a modern American Marine and they were wearing night-vision goggles, would you assume that all American soldiers always wear night-vision goggles? I like that the rangefinder and some of the more brutal elements of the armor, such as the flamethrower or Kyber-Dart launcher, are custom additions. In the series, Jango's relationship to the Mandalorians is much closer to the original '70s "stolen armor" concept. It looks like the single-use rocket launcher is part of the original armor, though.

Do all the Mandos carry a blaster on each hip, a la Jango Fett?

Yes, symmetry is a bigger deal with these "technologically advanced super-soldier" Mandos. It fits with their culture of uniformity and kept the army more faceless. These Mandalorian troops are precursors to stormtroopers in more ways than one, it seems.

Are there any other features of the costume that may have been resurrected from old, unused design ideas for the Fetts? Any new features we've never seen?

The poncho, especially as it appears in hologram form at the end of [upcoming episode] "Voyage of Temptation," is straight from McQuarrie's Empire Strikes Back production paintings, including the two-tone pattern.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars "Voyage of Temptation" Video Clips & Images
Reported by Jay Cochran - 01:06 PM 2010.02.03

Reunited with a former flame while on a mission of vital importance to the war effort, Obi-Wan Kenobi must defend his convictions and fight for his beliefs – even though taking up arms drives him further from the woman he once loved. The Mandalorian saga takes a personal turn in “Voyage of Temptation,” an all-new episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, February 5 on Cartoon Network.

Traveling to Coruscant aboard the palatial royal vessel of the beautiful Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, Obi-Wan and Anakin discover a plot to assassinate the powerful political figure before she reaches her destination. As the Jedi and their clones fight to protect the Duchess from a deadly cargo of assassin droids, Anakin discovers that his former Master has a history with the Mandalorian emissary – and that the elder Jedi is not without personal attachments of his own.

“I always wondered what would happen if Obi-Wan had been put in the same position as Anakin – specifically meeting and falling in love with a woman,” says series writer Henry Gilroy. “Would he be able to maintain his vow to the Jedi at the cost of true love? We know how Anakin dealt with this, but how would Obi-Wan fare against the same temptation? I think a lot of people have had relationships that never really got a chance to flourish, and there's always that ‘what if…’ sort of feeling. Even people in healthy, happy relationships ponder their old flames and think about what might have been. I think it really broadens Obi-Wan as a character. He's revealed as a man – someone we relate to because he has romantic feelings like the rest of us, even though he's a Jedi.”

Of course, the vows of the Jedi Order are not taken lightly, and it takes a truly remarkable woman to turn the head and test the heart of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Resolute in her own pacifist ideologies, Satine provides a counterpoint to Obi-Wan’s notions of peace-keeping and conflict resolution.

Satine’s a formidable woman in all regards – extremely intelligent, incorruptible, passionate and beautiful, with a great devotion to peace. She might come off as stuffy, but that is because she knows she's in a den of wolves and must appear powerful and unshakable,” Gilroy says. “Throughout history, some of the most powerful figures – like Gandhi and Dr. King – were pacifists who literally changed the world by refusing to fight. There's so much fighting in The Clone Wars; when someone is brave enough to speak up to try and stop it, that voice becomes like a light in the darkness, strong and memorable. Satine's resolved to always use peaceful means to end conflicts. The Jedi are peacekeepers, but they carry swords; if they have to use violence to end conflict, they will. That's unacceptable to Satine; she believes that if you bring a weapon to negotiations, you don't want peace. So, she's upset that the Jedi have allowed themselves to be drawn into the war, because it is everything that they are supposed to be against.”

Together, the two consistently challenge one another, each steadfast in their respective beliefs. It is this mutual respect which draws them together, even as their convictions keep them apart.
